Anna Pavlova as The Dying Swan

One of Pavlova’s most notable works was The Dying Swan, which was choreographed by Mikhail Fokine. In this performance, Pavlova portrayed an injured swan who is succumbing to its wounds. This dance, and many others, are included in a compilation entitled The Immortal Swan. It was directed by Douglas Fairbanks Sr in Hollywood in 1924.

Pavlov was especially known for her solos. These include The Dragonfly, Californian Poppy, and Gavotte. She also had an interest in ethnic dances and would often perform Polish and Mexican dances during her tours. She also worked as a choreographer. In January 1916, she Pavlova performed a short solo to an version of a Beethoven piece.
